Question: what does actually the “CTR” mean? Some of the versions are “CTR EURO x…”, other just “EURO y…”. Any ideas?

You got to get an NSS application which is Free to download (just type Nemesis Service Suite). Open NSS > Connect your phone through USB cable and choose PC Suite Mode > Click the Magnifying Glass in the right corner. After that click the phone info on the left top side > then click scan / read under “Actions” box > On the right box there is a Production data edit click “READ” then you will have your product code (that will be the same as in the back of your phone) appear > Now you just backspace it to erase and type in the new product code you want > after finish editing the product code you have to Tick on “enable” then click “write” See the on the bottom left for the progress > Once its done you have to “reflash” your Nokia E71 with Nokia software updater (so please kindly backup all your datas and settings first). After reflash the new product code will work.
Note: Each product code may have a different features.

After I changed the product code with NSS, I need to reflash my E71. How can I reflash it with the same firmware (100.07.76) ?

Unfortunately, you can only reflash it with the same firmware if you have the right equipment and that flash version. Usually, mobile phone technicians have this… There is, however a new crack that works on the new firmware version – HelloOx which works perfectly on the E71, E66 and E63 – also on other Nokia phones. I have tested the HelloOX 1.3 myself and it works.
You need a valid certificate for your phone to sign and install HelloOX in your phone, though.
Actually all Switzerland product code (and probably most euro product code) are updated with the firmware 200.21.118.
Following this website http://symbianism.blogspot.com/2008/11/which-nokia-symbian-phones-can-be.html, this firmware (200.21.118) is partiable hackable with HelloOX 1.03.
I just found on the net Nokia Care Suite 1.3.2 and downgrading a firmware is quite risky (It could brick your phone)
Just to say that i`ve hacked my E71 with HelloOx and it is with 210.21.006 02-03-2009 RM-346. Everything is working just fine and most important – i have no probs with the certificates anymore 🙂

Just tried out CODE: 0558784: RM-346 EURO B2 DENMARK GREY STEEL and it worked 🙂 It has English, Danish, Norwegian and Icelandic.
I have an E63-2 made in Finland. My product code is 0586574 which brands me to operator MOVISTAR. I want to Debrand but not sure what code to use. I have latest firmware, but my phone shows RM-439 and all the above show RM-346. Can anyone help? These Movistar icons are driving me crazy. What generic code can I use.
I believe yours is the US version of the E63. And I don’t think the NSU can modify this version.. You need Phoenix software to debrand it…
