Nokia E66 Firmware v.210.21.007

Nokia E66 Firmware v.210.21.007

Nokia Software Update has released yet another firmware versions for my beloved E71 and E66. I have just upgraded my E66 to the latest firmware. All is fine… 🙂

My E66 now shows: 210.21.007  27-02-2009  RM-343  Nokia E66-1(16)

For those of you who are asking: Is still still hackable?!?

The answer is a big……. YES!!

Although the latest HelloOX v1.03 will not work, the older version 1.02 works!! At least on all my chosen applications for my phones 🙂

Will update this post as soon as I find out the complete change log. For the meantime I have found these new changes:

1. Flashlite 3.0

2. Real Player S60 31.03.01

3. Nokia Maps 2.0 Wk39 B04

The Nokia E72 I previously posted (and the video deleted by request) is actually the Nokia E63. Definitely a lower version of the E71.

Here’s the Specs:

113 x 59 x 13-mm / 126g form factor, 320 x 240 pixel display, quad-band GSM / EDGE (Oh no! NO HSDPA), 660 minute talk / 432 hours standby, microSD memory slot (up to 32GB) with 110MB internal memory, 2 megapixel camera capable of QVGA video @ 15fps, Bluetooth (No AUTO FOCUS), 3.5-mm audio jack.  Plus, Nokia is throwing in a 1GB of Ovi file storage for free. Not bad!  🙂

This model does not have an infrared, as well as a front camera (understandably so). And instead of the metal frame used by the Nokia E71, this one will utilize a hard plastic – which would explain the more affordable cost of around €199.

Expect this new E-series model to come out before this year ends 🙂

Download the Nokia Software Updater application version 1.4.64 to update your phones.
Note:
As of this posting, my E71 is yet to be upgraded. According to Nokia’s Device Software Update page, “there is no software currently available for that product code (APAC 0560659) via the Nokia Software Update tool.”
I guess I just have to wait ’till Nokia’s server is updated…
Update: Apparently this firmware update for the E71 has no substantial changes 😦  It’s more of a “preventive measure” to dis-allow hacking of the phone. What a pity! Not even a fix to the E71’s purplish tinge when taking pictures…… I may be skipping this update for now.
For the E66 owners, the upside-down camera is now fixed. Be aware though that it also prevents you from haking your phone – installing unsigned applications is curently impossible.
You’ve been warned!
