Finally! After a long wait, I’ve finally flashed my Nokia N9 to the latest Meego-Harmattan version.

Meego-Harmattan PR1.2 (30.2012.07-1_PR_001) installed in my Nokia N9

As soon as the upgrade finished, I took some screen shots of what changed since PR1.1.  So far I managed to see the following:

• New Color Profile in the Display Settings

• Media Sharing (DLNA) in the Settings, as well as a new DLNA icon in the Status Bar when the feature is enabled:

• Nicknames preference is now possible in the Contacts:

• Updating Feeds is now possible via WLAN only.  This will save precious DATA for owners with limited DATA cap:

• Face Recognition in the Gallery:

• Threaded E-mails is now possible:

•  You can now sign in with your DropBox account. DropBox is now built-in in the OS:

• Playlist is now possible in the Music Settings:

• The Calendar Icon is now static, which shows the current date:

• Face Detection, Continuous Shutter and Gridlines in the Camera settings:

• In Video Mode, an icon to manually set the LED to turn on, assists video recording in the dark:

• The Fonts are now a little bit bigger and the spacing is much better – a welcome change, indeed!

Bigger and better spacing of fonts.

• Twitter and Facebook Notification in the Status Bar, Feed Screen and Stand-by Screen. My only gripe is that there should be a personalization option to change the notification sound.

I have yet to see the option to do VIDEO calls :((

I will update this post later as soon as I get the chance to tinker more of PR1.2 features…

Nokia’s smartphone products has been on the decline (in popularity) since 2009.  Blame that to marketing and the company’s complacency.

Since Nokia announced in February 2011, that its smarphones will adapt the Windows Phone OS, I have been eagerly anticipating what smartphones will come out from the Finnish phone company.  Of course everyone already knows about the Sea Ray, but I’m still looking forward to more ‘Win-Kia’ phones.

Anyways, a lot have already been reported on the net.  At the end of the day, I still want a Nokia phone to replace my old ones… I already am sold to getting the Meego running Nokia N9 – I am getting the Black one and a blue one. But I am also getting me a Windows phone made by Nokia.  It may or may not be the ‘out-ted’ Nokia Sea Ray, but as long as it’s made by Nokia, has a front facing-camera, and a native VOIP/SIP support, I’m sold. 🙂

While waiting for my next Nokia phone, I will kill time watching some ads about my next smartphone…
